Sure it is. All I have to do is close my eyes and wait for someone that looks vaguely upset pass by on the street and you'll go running out after them. Easy as that.

[conciliates]

I think that's a slight overestimation of my meddling nature, Rose.

[restitchtime]

You've technically cut through the barriers of the universe just to take my temperature, Fussbudget. What I said is an underestimation at best.

[conciliates]

[ a shrug ] Perhaps, but I feel no stronger inclination to help distraught passersby than the average person. I prioritize, you know.

Trying to make me feel special isn't going to make me more cooperative, you know. It's good to hear that you're not indiscriminately trying to preserve paradox space's emotional state, though.

[conciliates]

Oh, I know. I've long since learned that the only way to get you to cooperate would involve knocking you unconscious, and that is a method from which I'd really rather abstain.

[restitchtime]

Yeah? That's too bad, it'd remind me of when I was little.

[conciliates]

[ the corner of her lips tugs downwards ] Unfortunately, I'm not here to serve as your surrogate lusus.

Good thing, too - having to wear sunglasses all the time would probably kill your delicate fashion sensibilities.

[conciliates]

Especially ones so ridiculously pointy, yes.

[restitchtime]

Out of all the things wrong with our shades you take offense to them being pointy? Christ.

[conciliates]

Well, it's not that there's anything fundamentally wrong with sunglasses as an accessory, per se, so long as they accompany the correct outfit. It's simply difficult for me to envision an outfit that would be considered "correct" in coalescence with such comically shaped shades.

[restitchtime]

I almost got another pair, but my asshole of a brother decided that being a kleptomaniac was cute. If you want to get upset with somebody about my glasses, I'd go for him.

[at this point she's going to subtly try and drink some water from one of the bottles dumped out on her bed. hey, she's sick. hydration is important.]

[conciliates]

I'm not upset, only slightly visually affronted. I've come to think of it as an endearing character trait, by now.

[ she was going to pretend she doesn't notice, but drinking it straight from the bottle, really, Rose? there is a very real danger of choking here! ] I brought cups, you know. You may want to use one.

[restitchtime]

So long as you're not ripping them off my face I don't care what you think about them.

[she's not six, she can drink from a water bottle without dying thank you very much >(] Why, are you going to confiscate what's left of the water after I get better? That's harsh.

[conciliates]

No, I just think it would be more comfortable.

[restitchtime]

Fussbudget, I'm sick. Comfortable is the last thing I'm supposed to be right now.

[conciliates]

Really? Because I was under the impression that making one as comfortable as possible when sick was proper conduct among humans.

[restitchtime]

I don't know, I've never had proper conduct when I've been sick before. [she regrets saying that almost instantly. that sounds too much like a weakness.]

[conciliates]

[ Kanaya bites on her lower lip. she never knows how to respond when Rose alludes to these sorts of things -- it can't exactly shock her, considering the fact that back on Alternia, Rose's relationship with her guardian would've been nothing to bat an eye at, but it still doesn't sit right with her. not with what she knows of human society and their strange little 'family' set-ups, and not when her own lusus was never anything but kind to her. and when Rose says that, God help her, Kanaya feels something scarily like pity well up in her chest, even though it makes her want to kick herself and even though Rose would unquestionably kill her (in a way that'd stick) if she let it show.

so instead she puts on a stern face and says: ] Well, you're having it now. [ snatching the water bottle from Rose's hand, she pours her a cup of water, which she places in her hands. ] Here.

[ she's not going to push her luck with the straw, there ]

[restitchtime]

[Rose is just a little too bemused by the forceful kindness to protest, just taking it with a faintly perplexed look on her face. she stares down at the cup for a moment before looking back up at Kanaya, expression more collected now. maybe she's a little grateful for the interest, but there's no way in hell she'd let that show.]

You just really love uphill battles, don't you?

[conciliates]

Oh, I simply adore them, and wish they could serve as my main form of reproduction.

[restitchtime]

Hey now, no need to get personal with me. You're going to have to find somebody else for that shit.

[conciliates]

It's a shame people as intransigent as you are so difficult to come by.

[restitchtime]

I think that if they were any more people as monumentally bitchy as me the universe would collapse in on itself.
