[ she frowns, but has no intention of arguing the matter further, instead resorting to lightly rapping against Rose's forehead with the backs of her fingers. ]

[ rather than pull her hand away, she turns her hand over, pressing her palm against the same spot. ] You're warm. ... I think. It's hard to say, given the differences between average troll body temperature and human body temperature, and also the fact I have no circulation.

[she gently takes hold of Kanaya's wrist, intending to just move her hand off her head. she's almost positive she really is feverish, but that doesn't mean she needs people mentioning it.]

Call me crazy, but I think all that means you're not exactly an expert on declaring fevers.

and yet somehow she's more full of issues than dave and rose combined :'D

[ she blinks down at the contact -- the gentleness of it, more than anything -- lips parting slightly in surprise, before she catches herself and presses them back together. she lets Rose move her hand away, and wills herself back into snark-mode. ]

You may recall I brought a heat-gauge for that exact reason.

[luckily for Kanaya, Rose doesn't quite catch that little slip-up. it's kind of hard to read people's facial expressions when you're sick and all.]

And you may recall my opinion on using it.

My continued efforts of trying to grasp the reason why you're so against checking your own body temperature continue to be met with failure.

[restitchtime]

Then let me help you: because it's none of your business. I already know I'm sick, so there's no point to it.

[conciliates]

Of course you're sick. The question is how sick. And seeing as even you agreed that I am here to help, you might as well allow me to do exactly that.

[restitchtime]

Can't you just be happy with the fact I'm not trying to kick you out and leave it at that? [her voice carries a tone of frustration. she really wishes she was feeling better so she could resist in a more forceful manner]

[conciliates]

Evidently not.

[restitchtime]

[she stares up at the ceiling for a long time, face twisted up in an expression of great distaste. finally:]

If I tell you my fucking temperature, will you lay off?

[conciliates]

[ this obviously pleases her ] Yes.

[restitchtime]

[yeah yeah, revel in it while you can. she tsks and holds out her hand.] All right, all right. Give me the damn thermometer.

[conciliates]

[ she places it back in Rose's hand ] Here you are.

[restitchtime]

[she grumbles a little under her breath and then sticks it in her mouth. after the appropriate time is up she takes it out and reads off the result]

103. There, happy?

[conciliates]

Oh dear, then it appears I was right after all. [ it's less an 'I told you so' and more an expression of concern. it's okay, though. she has read about this on the internet! ] I should get you ice, shouldn't I?

[restitchtime]

No, it's fine. As long as I keep hydrated it'll go away on its own. [she flaps the hand with the thermometer in it at her in an attempt to keep the fussing to a minimum]

[conciliates]

[ she knows Rose doesn't want her to fuss, but she can't help it, okay :( ] I have soup. If you want some.

[restitchtime]

[so very not ok] I'm not hungry.

[conciliates]

Right. [ she looks the slightest bit disheartened, but pulls it out of her sylladex anyway, placing the soup-filled thermos on Rose's nightstand. ] Well, I'll leave it here, in case you change your mind. I made it accordingly with one of your Earth soup recipes, just in case there's something about troll soup that would offend your human palate.

[restitchtime]

Somehow I've got a feeling that was a good idea. [she's talked enough with the trolls of her world to know that it would probably have baby toes in or or something. god.] What kind is it?

[conciliates]

Vegetable soup. [ a beat ] Is that okay?

[restitchtime]

[the flattest look combined with the driest tone ever] No, that's far beyond ok. I'm deathly allergic to any and all vegetables, what the fuck were you thinking?

[conciliates]

You know what, I'm just going to do that thing that you do sometimes and say--

... Actually, ellipses don't translate that well into speech. So I'm just going to look sullen and not say anything, and you will know that was the intended verbal equivalent of ellipses.

[ she promptly crosses her arms over her chest, looking sullen, and doesn't say anything. >:T ]

[restitchtime]

Don't forget to stomp your feet around. It's not a sulky tantrum without that key factor. [she ain't even mad, girl]

[conciliates]

[ she sighs and rolls her eyes, hands dropping to her hips ] Well, eat it or don't. It doesn't really matter, I guess.

[ now, what else can she fuss about... oh yeah, she hasn't got the humidifier working! let's do that!! ]
