[ Welp, it's that time of year when John gets sick and Dave decides it's a good idea to flip every shit over it.

Hope you're ready to consume soup, Egbert. 'cause guess who has some for you. ]

[ofbreath]

[He's sort of dumb about being sick. Really, the worst of it only hit him that morning, but he's been coming down with something for about three days now.]

[He just wouldn't let anybody stop him from getting up and doing stuff anyway, insisting it was allergies (because it was a valid excuse-- he did have a good number of them).]

[So when the fever finally knocked him on his ass (quite literally) when he tried to get up that morning, and he missed the first step going downstairs and fell on his backside and slid down two other stairs and sat there in a daze, he... figured he couldn't really pass it off as pollen anymore, and let Dave fuss over him.]

I have got to be the lamest person ever, haha.

Man, everybody's lame when they're sick.

[ Not like Dave's any better about being sick. Admittedly he hides it a little easier when he first starts feeling like crap, but he doesn't even bother insisting that it's allergies or some shit like he probably should to stop people from paying that much attention to him when he starts sneezing.

John, on the other hand...

As he comes closer, he brings up one of his hands, turning it over to press the back of it against John's forehead. He moves it down, feels his temple, before going down to his cheek. It's more of a consoling gesture than him actually checking his temperature, because he knows how shit that is when John is actually flushed the way he is when he's sick. ]

S'okay. Though, I did warn you about the stairs. [ He can't help but poke fun at him before he gives him any soup. ]

[ofbreath]

[He closes his eyes at Dave's hand on his skin-- because it's cool, and it feels really nice. He makes a quiet little happy sound, pressing his face into the hand for a moment, before he opens his eyes again to roll them at Dave.]

Wow are you really pulling that meme shit with me right now.

[oftime]

Yes. Yes I am.

[ He sets the bowl aside, huffing a quiet laugh and then bringing his newly freed hand up to cup John's face. He's typically a personal heater, but in comparison to John he's probably something of a personal cooler at the moment. Almost to make up for the meme shit, he traces his fingers along his face, thumbs following the curve of his eyebrows, then sweeping across his temples. ]

[He grumbles a little at first, and then the grumble gives way into a throaty little pleased sound. Throaty mostly because he is so horribly congested right now, ew.]

Mmm, that's nice.

[oftime]

[ Yeah, kinda really ew. He's still going to lean in to press his lips to his forehead, not really concerned all too much about getting sick. When it comes to getting sick due to taking care of someone, it's usually John's field of expertise more than Dave's. ]

I should just stick my hands into the fridge for a while 'n see what that feels like.

[ofbreath]

[Yeah John just basically takes care of someone until he catches their sick and he swears that that's what makes them better. He does it pretty much every goddamn time.]

That might be a little too cold, actually.

[oftime]

[ Dave will just indulge him every time he says it. And then take care of him so he stops being sick, because he doesn't need a sick John. Sick Johns are like kicked puppies and that's never a good thing.

Snorts, softly, before moving his fingers to his neck. ]

Maybe. Never know 'til you try, but I'm not moving right now to figure it out.

[Hums a little at the fingers against his neck, obviously soothed.]

Good.

eh. nothing new.

[oftime]

[ Shifts around so he can actually sit instead of standing over him, and then almost immediately after he starts kneading his fingers into his skin. ]

I like how it's a definite sign of you being sicker than hell when you're actually warmer than me.

Yeah. [Ducks under the blanket for a minute to make a valiant attempt at forcing his lungs out of his body through his throat.]

...gh. Sorry. [Peers.]

[ He withdraws his hands for that minute so that John can do his gross sick thing, wincing sympathetically. His heart goes out to him, especially since he probably had a hand in him being a sick person.

When he peers back out, he leans in to press a kiss between his eyebrows. ]

Dork, quit apologizing.

Well it's gross, geez.

[Wow his face is probably warm enough to be unpleasant on Dave's lips. Stop dying of high fevers, John, it's not nice.]

Yeah kinda, but not like you can help it.

[ A little, but it doesn't bother him. A John is a John, and it probably feels kind of nice still for him. So he bumps his nose here and there into his skin, and brings his hands back up to wrap behind his neck so he pretty much has a cold compress on the back of it. ]

[ofbreath]

[John kind of visibly wilts into the compress, closing his eyes over again.]

God, being sick is so. Freaking. Lame.

[oftime]

[ Dave nuzzles his nose into his temple, humming softly at the back of his throat as he sort of works his fingertips in slow, small circles while he's at it. ]

Yep, yep, 'n yep. I got you, though, so don't worry.

[ofbreath]

I know. [Best friend forever wow. Never letting you go away.]

[Also kind of shifting to latch onto your arm or something. He just kind of wants to hold onto something.]

[oftime]

[ Pretty okay with this, to be perfectly honest. And that, too, though he has to shift said arm to make it a little easier. Not that he has a problem with this, considering it kind of has him wrapping his arms around him. ]

[ofbreath]

[And wow John just burrows into him as soon as it seems like Dave is okay with the notion, and he goes still apart from periodic snot-induced hitches of his breath.]

[oftime]

[ That's kind of gross, babe, but he just moves accordingly so John can be burrowed as comfortably as possible. His clothes will wash if John gets snot all over him.

Totally okay with the notion, and going to knead his fingers a little into John's scalp while he's at it. ]

[ofbreath]

[He would be making a funny sort of purring sound if he weren't too congested to do anything beyond labored breathing.]

[oftime]

[ Poor lump of sickness. But he figures he's still happy to have the attention, so he continues kneading and moves his other hand to rub little circles between his shoulder blades. ]

[ofbreath]

[Lump of sickness indeed. He is basically just a lump of snot and bluh right now.]

[A lump of snot and bluh that is steadily falling asleep curled up on you like that, Dave.]

[ That is...

Well he's not sure how down he is with that, but so long as John is comfortable and not sniffling or sneezing or oozing everywhere. If he's comfy, he's not gonna move him.
