[Out on a limb, it's probably that pink dress he was wearing when he and his friends had been sneaking into that Flower Opera Garden full of girls. One of his friends had seen it again after they had already split ways and thought it would be funny to send it to us and we were too nice to throw it out...like all the other girl's outfits that we've worn before that have been sent back to us and we ended up keeping around out of nostalgia and curiosity... (and before ending up in a world where Emmet is perfectly okay with this apparently [sob emote])

It is one of the more elegant things he had in his closet, since it's very ballroom style and...princessy, for lack of a better word. Though it doesn't look like Emmet fits it very well--while the bottom part of it seems to be covering down well enough since Cilan did at least try to make adjustments to it (BECAUSE IT FELT LIKE IT NEEDED ONE, NOT BECAUSE WE WANTED TO BE ABLE TO WEAR IT AGAIN), it's still a little bit shorter at the bottom due to Emmet's height, and that top part as well as the sleeves are probably too tight. It...might have been cute normally if it had perfectly fit, but...

But that's not what he says when he (to his credit, though likely with all the honed skills of an experienced waiter) has managed to not drop that tray of refreshments and set it down and closing his door a bit forcefully behind him before he makes a beeline over. And praying the Elesa cosplay wasn't found too.]

It's--ahaha, it's kind of a long story... [He comes over to pick at the sleeves and straighten them out a little more--we might have to adjust the ties in the back too so it's not quite as suffocating.] When I was traveling with Ash and Iris, we always seemed to get into situations with strange tastes that would require us to wear outfits like these. This one in particular was one I had to wear for getting into the Flower Garden Opera up north in eastern Unova, since they normally didn't allow men in their establishment, so I had to go with a more...concealed taste in appearance to be allowed inside, I suppose...

[And it wasn't by his choice to go there and they were there for a dumb silly reason, but yeah.]
