So how are YOU going to propose to your darling dearest, after being together for so long? Well...

Scenarios:

1. Down on One Knee

Traditionally. Either in public or privately, one of you has taken the daring risk of becoming completely vulnerable in the midst of the other. You've got the perfect ring tucked into your coat jacket, and now all that's left is to see how the other reacts.

2. Cake

After a long, very expensive dinner, all that's left is dessert. In one bite in particular, you feel a hard...something hit your teeth. Upon investigating this strange object, you find a beautiful ring covered in cake in your hand. Look up, and you'll find your significant other looking at you with those adorable goo goo eyes you just love.

3. Fortune Cookie

It's your average night at the local Chinese resturant, nothing too special. And of course, every American knows that a good Chinese meal is never over until you eat the fortune cookie. But on this night, you crackopen your cookie, surprised to find there's a lovely little ring looking back at you. The slip of paper that goes with all fortune cookies reads a simple: "Will you marry me?" (in bed???)

4. During the Game

In the midst of the tired players taking their much earned break at half time, and the seemingly hundreds of birthday wishes flying past on the large screen, one message in particular will stand out to you. " ____ will you marry me?" And when you turn to your lover, heart thumping loudly, you'll see a huge ring presented before you.

5. In a Book

Just a quiet night together, playing some games, reading a few books. Upon locating a particular book, you crack it open, only to find that the pages have been hollowed out, leaving only a beautiful ring, and a delicate note saying "Will you marry me?" in its place.

6. During the Movies

A.k.a MysteryGuitarMan on Youtube's most adorable proposal. You've prepared a little scene at the beginning of the movies, and had the people in charge play in between movie previews. The lights go up, buddy, and now it's your time to shine!

7.One Balloon

Better known as "the most adorable scene in Super Junior's No One music video." You've got tons of balloons, and together you and your honey let them go fly into the sky. But why didn't you let the last one go? I'll say that ring attatched to the end has something to do with it!

8. Anything!

There is no doubt in my mind that I have missed out on some really cute proposals, so make your own up!

[ It wasn't so much that Sonic wasn't being honest but more along the lines that he legitimately had no way of explaining himself in a way he found acceptable. He tried with some BLATANTLY OBVIOUS CHARADES, SHADOW, but that failed him, clearly.

Shadow's grip on him would be abusive in any other scenario with any other people, but this had become about the norm for them. Sonic was ready to opt into shoving him off, but he would attempt to provide patience. ]

I already told ya. Rings. Rings.

[ He is not saying the big words, Shadow, but maybe if you played Scrabble or Pictionary or something, he could elaborate further.

~~Or maybe they could fight so bad he could try to ring his neck. EXTREME COMMITMENT.~~ ]

And I told you, I do not see what promise this entails--...

[ Oh.

Shadow hitches a breath, the reality visibly dawning on him that... that type of promise is a possibility. Suddenly, it is like the weight of his inhibitors are bringing him down, when that isn't the case at all. It's the idea of it crashing down on him, knocking the wind out of him.

Sonic always is associated with the wind, after all. Of course he would sweep him off of his feet like a sudden gale.

He...

He just isn't sure what to say.

No, he knows what he wants to say, but it's a matter of how. He's speechless. He's not even sure if this really is what Sonic is getting at, but it makes his heart slam into his ribcage so hard that he's sure it's going to ache.

He knows. He knows.

He just... wants to be certain first, he decides, eyes slipping down to the ring nestled comfortably around his wrist. He couldn't take his eyes off of it now, the meaning behind it becoming more and more clear. ]

You...

You mean...

... marriage...

[ His eyes fling up to Sonic's own, not about to display to him his needs, his love until he is absolutely sure. He isn't about to jump the gun yet. He wants some confirmation. ]

[ Sonic's spines and ears rose, flared, the very word causing his body to involuntarily react. ]

I wouldn't use that word... [ But that didn't mean it wasn't what he was driving at. ]

Then, perhaps... eternal commitment...?

[ Something like that. He didn't want it to sound like some sappy, traditional walking-down-the-aisle ordeal. That isn't like either of them.

The concept of remaining bound together in the sense of romance, however, taking the world on and staying as free as they were before, just with a tighter red string around them...

Shadow couldn't say no. ]

[ And his nerves began to settle, at least to a point where his figure was less tense and one gloved and ungloved hand found their way to Shadow's knees. He put his weight onto them as if the entire conversation was finally coming down upon him. Spontaneity was Sonic's favorite thing whether he realized it or not, but even this impulse caught him off guard.

He was, however, just following his heart, as a blue hedgehog tends to do. ]

Yeah, that sounds alright. [ Still some major romantic vocabulary there, but he wasn't about to lie.

That soft muzzle exposed a grin that had been hiding for some time now. ]

You seem like a cool guy to keep around.

[ He felt like he was about to choke on his own air, the pressure on his chest overwhelming, as if someone was sitting on him. Shadow was so unsure of how to word what he wanted to convey, his heart going fucking insane and his cheeks heating in a feeling he never thought he'd be a part of.

He...

He had a second chance to protect someone for life, someone he loved and cherished, much like his Maria...

He wasn't about to relinquish that chance. ]

I... would like that...

[ Shadow inhaled shakily, unable to hold back the small tug upward his lips gave. It was difficult to notice if one didn't know him, but for Sonic, it was likely going to be clear as day. His hands dropped down, cupping over the blue hedgehog's own in an inviting union. ]

... I would like to stay by your side, Sonic.

[ Oh, could that grin get any wider, any brighter? Could it dance in memories for years to come and be remembered long after he's gone? Likely. It was handsome and satisfied within the moment, supplemented by a nervous heart throbbing, vibrating, shaking on its valves and ready to drop into their laps. It was only when Sonic started to relocate to his knees and move both set of hands to Shadow's chest to shove him back did he look ready for more. ]

There's one thing...

[ Every exhale shivered with his purrs. ]

You've gotta wear the dress.

[ What a PRICK. STOP RUINING EVERYTHING. ]

[ Shadow took that shove, that mild attack, as an invitation to get rough without hesitation. He grabbed the other hedgehog by his shoulders, squeezing tightly and pushing him back down, looking to pin him down into the mattress's plush warmth.

That look on his face was only slightly sinister, overtaken by glee, sustaining any terrifying implications within his grin. ]

Incorrect. You would look gorgeous in pink.

[ Because like hell would they wear white. They'd done far too much to be able to adhere to that virgin tradition with a straight face. He snickered lightly, dipping his head down to lap at his throat, unable to help the relentless purring that gushed from him like a tantalizing waterfall. ]

Whaaaat? Y'know, If you want a pink hedgehog, I happen to know one. [ Oh dear lord.

Allowing Shadow to pin him, Sonic's lips wibbled in retaliation to the laughter trying to froth from his mouth. He finally spat his chuckles into the air and reached up to capture the face of the one he didn't need to catch at all. They had found each other at one another's side without even realizing it, after all. A chase was unnecessary.

Sonic's eyes said everything his heart needed you to know, Shadow, even if his voice struggled to do so. He really cared about you... loved you. He was happy here. ]

Mm, I would much rather have a little blue.

[ Wow, wow. No, that was corny. That was incredibly corny. Shadow was not about to allow him the chance to remark about it, taking advantage while they remained so close to dip down and close the distance. He silenced him, tender hands usually so destructive now making peaceful trails down his chest and belly, savoring his touch, his warmth.

He...

He was happy here, too.

He wanted this. Forever.

`I...

I see why I have to go on now, Maria.` ]

[ And then after some macking, they got married and Shadow wore the dress anyway. ]
