So how are YOU going to propose to your darling dearest, after being together for so long? Well...

Scenarios:

1. Down on One Knee

Traditionally. Either in public or privately, one of you has taken the daring risk of becoming completely vulnerable in the midst of the other. You've got the perfect ring tucked into your coat jacket, and now all that's left is to see how the other reacts.

2. Cake

After a long, very expensive dinner, all that's left is dessert. In one bite in particular, you feel a hard...something hit your teeth. Upon investigating this strange object, you find a beautiful ring covered in cake in your hand. Look up, and you'll find your significant other looking at you with those adorable goo goo eyes you just love.

3. Fortune Cookie

It's your average night at the local Chinese resturant, nothing too special. And of course, every American knows that a good Chinese meal is never over until you eat the fortune cookie. But on this night, you crackopen your cookie, surprised to find there's a lovely little ring looking back at you. The slip of paper that goes with all fortune cookies reads a simple: "Will you marry me?" (in bed???)

4. During the Game

In the midst of the tired players taking their much earned break at half time, and the seemingly hundreds of birthday wishes flying past on the large screen, one message in particular will stand out to you. " ____ will you marry me?" And when you turn to your lover, heart thumping loudly, you'll see a huge ring presented before you.

5. In a Book

Just a quiet night together, playing some games, reading a few books. Upon locating a particular book, you crack it open, only to find that the pages have been hollowed out, leaving only a beautiful ring, and a delicate note saying "Will you marry me?" in its place.

6. During the Movies

A.k.a MysteryGuitarMan on Youtube's most adorable proposal. You've prepared a little scene at the beginning of the movies, and had the people in charge play in between movie previews. The lights go up, buddy, and now it's your time to shine!

7.One Balloon

Better known as "the most adorable scene in Super Junior's No One music video." You've got tons of balloons, and together you and your honey let them go fly into the sky. But why didn't you let the last one go? I'll say that ring attatched to the end has something to do with it!

8. Anything!

There is no doubt in my mind that I have missed out on some really cute proposals, so make your own up!

Hm... yeah, I do. [ He's read that story so many times to Nageki that Hitori can only hope he actually remembers. ] It was one of my favorite parts. And, if I recall correctly, one of yours as well.

[ ...okay, that he isn't 100% certain of, but he can surely guess. ]

One of them. [ He nods. ] But I think that ... looking up at the stars on a clear night like this ... is almost like riding on the train together.

[ Visiting all of those far off places and seeing things they couldn't even imagine. ] ... Maybe that's silly.

[ He looks to Hitori, waiting to hear his input. And by the way, in the special middle box of candy, this is buried. ]

Hitori blinks a little before shaking his head and smiling softly, picking up a few more treats. At the rate he's going it might not take him long to eat his way to that middle box... ] I don't think it's silly at all, Nageki. I see what you mean.

It's like... hm. We don't get to see this normally, you know? When we can see the sky like this it's easier to tell just how large the universe is. There's so many things out there that we'll never be able to see in our lifetime, but we always want to know more.

Nageki picks up a couple himself. They're mostly for Hitori but he doesn't want Hitori to notice that or he'll fuss. He nods a couple of times when it seems that Hitori understands and smiles softly. ] ... Yes. It's something like that.

And even when Campanella disappears, Giovanni promises that they'll be together forever.

Because they'll live on in each other's hearts, right? As long the memory's there they never really leave. [ It's a sobering thought, considering all they've been through up until this point. And he realizes that Nageki will probably realize this too, so he scrambles mentally to think of something to say.

...and then he picks up the ring in a small cluster of candy. ] Huh? [ Are those... stars on it? Are those tiny gems? Hitori looks at the ring closely, puzzled. It looks too big for Nageki's finger, and too nice to be some free toy. But then why? ] What's this?

[mourningful]

Yes, that's right. [ It's a little sobering, all things considered, but Nageki finds it sweet as well. Maybe he wouldn't willingly admit to that right away. But it would be nice to have someone who would be with you forever.

... Which is why he tries to tell himself to calm down as Hitori finally stumbles upon the ring. Now's the moment ...! ]

You're the most important person to me. I ... want us to be together forever too. No matter what might pull us apart, I'll always be in your heart and ... of course, you're in mine. [ He takes a breath and reaches for Hitori's hand. ] Hitori ... will you marry me?

[ Hitori's about to pitch in a comment of his own, to say that yes, no matter what happens he will always be there, because he doesn't want to leave if he doesn't have to.

But then Nageki pops the question, and it's like Hitori's brain shuts down entirely for a few moments. What just... he... he just... he just asked him to be his husband. To marry him. Right? This isn't some weird dream that he's going to wake up from later feeling strange and guilty? His fingernails digging into his palm prove to him that this isn't a dream. That what just happened isn't just his imagination going crazy.

Hitori's heart begins to pound heavily in his chest as his mind struggles to wrap around this. Of course the thought of marriage crossed his mind a couple of times but he always thought it was something for the future, for when they got a little older... for when he was sure that Nageki was ready for it. But he supposes Nageki's ready now if he's the one asking the questions.

He laces his fingers with Nageki's, nodding his head firmly. There's a few things that'll need to be addressed later, but first he needs to stop gaping like a fool and actually give an answer. ] Yes, I will. Of course I will. I'd be honored to marry you, Nageki. [ Despite the confidence and certainty in Hitori's words he feels akin to a giddy school girl on the inside. He lets some of the konpeitou in his hand drop onto the blanket as he leans forward to kiss him, unable to hold himself back. ]

[mourningful]

[ Meanwhile, Nageki sits and tries not to burst as he waits for Hitori's answer. Despite wanting to hide a little, he keeps his gaze steady upon Hitori to show that he's completely serious about this (not that Nageki's much of a joker in the first place). He'd planned the whole evening and got the ring while Hitori was out and everything.

When the answer finally comes, Nageki's fingers tighten automatically against Hitori's and he smiles, nodding his head a few times. He can't help that his eyes get a little watery as he leans in to meet the kiss. ]

[ There's too much emotion for him to express in words or action. All he can do is squeeze Nageki's hand tight and kiss him for as long as he can on this perfect night.

When he does pull away (very reluctantly) it takes him a moment to think of something intelligent to say. ] ... I hope that ring wasn't too expensive, Nageki.

[ ... and then when he does speak, it's something fussy. Typical, typical Hitori. ]

[mourningful]

[ oh Hitori...

Nageki shakes his head quickly. It's a nice ring but nothing like a diamond or anything like that. ] Don't worry about it. I've been saving.

[ you know when you participate in clinical studies and they compensate you ... yep. that's my story and i'm sticking to it. ]

You know I can't not worry.

[ He can't stop smiling, though. He's just... happy. Really, really, really happy. How is this even his life right now? Everything's just far too perfect. ]

You really went over the top for me... [ Hitori looks at the ring again before slipping it onto his finger. It's even the right size. ] I love you, Nageki. More than anything else in this world.

[mourningful]

But you have no reason to now.

[ Nageki's smiling too, though. He's really happy that Hitori is so happy. And obviously that he said yes... ]

I love you too. That's why I can go over the top.

[ While Hitori doesn't necessarily believe that (he hasn't done anything to deserve it, and even then he doesn't need anything special), he'll nod anyway and kiss him gently. His hand brushes against his cheek, the metal band touching his skin. ]

We'll always be together. I'm not going to leave you, okay? No matter what. [ So please, stars in the sky, don't make Nageki leave him too. Let them stay this happy for the rest of their lives. ]

[mourningful]

[ And people think Nageki has a low self-esteem. Of course Hitori deserves it! It may not be needed either but Nageki wanted to do it. And he's happy that he did! It couldn't have gone more perfectly. ]

I'll never leave you either. [ He puts his hand on the one against his face and squeezes it gently. He's already the happiest he knows he can possibly be, but there's nothing that's going to change that either. That's something he's completely certain of. ] I'll be with you forever, and ... this is a promise of that.

Nageki... [ It's the weight of everything that finally makes Hitori say that it's okay for him to cry. Losing his family was hard. It's always going to be hard to think about. And the orphanage, too, won't be able to bring him happiness anymore.

But Nageki... Nageki's here. He's not going anywhere. They aren't going anywhere, and that thought alone brings him so much joy. Spending the rest of his life with the one he loves the most is the greatest joy of them all.

He doesn't bother to wipe his own tears and instead lays down on the blanket, pulling Nageki (his fiance) down with him. ]

[mourningful]

[ Nageki knows it's been very hard for Hitori. Probably even harder than for himself, because he can't even remember his family before the orphanage. That's why he wants to work especially hard to stay together no matter what.

He smiles a little bit, holding tight to Hitori as he's tugged right down onto the blanket. Nuzzling into him a bit, he just stays this way. For him, there's no need for words yet because everything went perfectly and more. Furthermore, everything he could ever possibly want is right here in his arms. Not even the stars can distract away from how happy he is right this very moment. ]

[ The feeling's mutual. There's nothing that Hitori can say that even feels like it's enough so he remains silent. The rest of the world could vanish around them and he wouldn't really care-- as long as Nageki's with him everything will be okay. With Nageki, there is love, happiness, and hope in his life. Nageki is all he wants and all he'll ever need.

He returns the nuzzling with a bit of his own, kissing him again and again and again. Too many emotions to handle at the moment, so now he's more overly affectionate than usual. ]

[mourningful]

[ Nageki's always prepared for Hitori's affections. Truthfully, although he's always the more reserved of the two (even if he can be blunt), he fully felt like kissing Hitori again and again and again. He's managed singlehandedly to make Nageki the happiest on earth. ... Especially now with his "yes" to the proposal.

So he returns those kisses, softly, gently, treating each one as if it's a treasure all in itself. ]

[ Hitori can feel a warm fuzziness swell in his chest with each and every kiss from Nageki. It's too much. It's just too much for him to handle, and so much more than he ever expected to get out of life.

Not that he's not accepting of it. Of course not. He knew they'd get to this point someday, with the thoughts of a wedding in the future, but he never expected it to be like this.

In between kisses, he whispers to him. ] ... I'm the luckiest person on earth, to have you. [ And he means it, from the very bottom of his heart. ]

[mourningful]

[ Nageki doesn't know why, but he just couldn't wait anymore. He's always been with Hitori and always expected to be but now it's official. And that feels really nice.

He looks up at Hitori and smiles gently at the words. He knows just how genuine they are ... because he feels the exact same way. And you don't meet someone with that kind of connection to your heart every single day. Sometimes not even in a lifetime. ]

I know, because I am too.

We can't both be the luckiest, Nageki. [ He's teasing, he's teasing. For once he won't (playfully) argue about who truly loves the other more or whatever and instead lifts his hand to brush his hair out of his face.

...at this rate they'll be there all night. ]

[mourningful]

Why not? [ Is there a problem with being out here all night ... ] Since we're together, I think it's fine.

[ He smiles, knowing this is his victory. ]

[ as long as neither of them gets cold... and speaking of that, Hitori slips off his scarf and wraps it around Nageki. ]

Luckiest implies there's only one, right? Unless we're the luckiest pair. [ Which is totally the truth, by the way.

Seeing that smile on his face warms his heart, and he very gently touches his lips with his fingertips, tracing the shape. too precious ] I love you. [ He could spend the rest of his life saying it and it still wouldn't be enough times. ] Everything about you. You're more than I could have ever wanted in life.

[mourningful]

Not necessarily. [ so there. He snuggles into Hitori's scarf but wonders what Hitori is going to do about being cold? So he snuggles into him too, allowing Hitori to trace his lips. The precious one is actually Hitori. ]

I love you too. But you know that, already. [ And that his feelings are the same. That's why he set all of this up and just went for it, to be honest. Because he knows he'll never want anything more. ]

[redscarf]

It's still nice to hear again, even if I know it. [ If Hitori's precious, it's because Nageki's present. He brings out all these wonderful warm feelings out of him. It's not his fault-- ]

... Mm. [ Speaking of setting things up. ] I'll have to think of something really good to pay you back for this.

[ A kiss for the tip of his nose. ] But not tonight. [ Tonight he's letting Nageki spoil him to his heart's content. It feels weird but hey, he planned this, right? For all he knows Nageki's got another trick up his sleeve. ]
