I don't get sick!

[It's huffily, irritated. Cheeks pink with fever and blanket drawn around her shoulders like a cape, she shoots him a briefly impatient look, and then almost immediately looks a little embarrassed.]

Sorry about that. [Her fuse is just a little shorter right now. :c]

[ There's a slight eyebrow quirk, but he takes it in stride /badumtish]

Should've known all that island bullshit you were breathing in wouldn't prepare you for the big bad mainland. Don't feel bad, the fucking weather and air pollution all up in here's enough to lay out a grown man. Jane of the Jungle didn't stand a chance.

[She makes a little whining noise, sort of just falling sideways to lie on the couch.]

I've been sick maybe three times in my life.. how long is the flu supposed to last?

[She's never had it before. She's never had anyone to catch it from.]

[ He definitely doesn't think for a second how much that reminded him of a dog and oh yeah she was basically raised by one. He flops down onto the couch next to her, near her feet, without looking to make sure that she'll make room for him. ]

The flu is an abomination of nature that exists entirely to prolong the misery of as many people as possible.

[ He glances at her sideways and doesn't shrug but has the same air of how the fuck would I know? ]

It's like, hey, I think I'm going to find as many losers and dog girls as I can and make them into sniffling, feverish piles of mush. Sounds legit.

[It's mumbled with a little frown as she sits back up, pulling the blanketcape up around her face, pinching it at her chin to form a hood.

Jade is apparently restless beyond all measure.]

Aren't you afraid of getting sick?

I said dog girls and losers, Jade. I don't get sick.

[ This is patently untrue but the only person who has proof otherwise is Bro. ]

You are not impervious to germs, Strider. I'm going to cough on you and in three days you'll be all, oooh, Jade, I'm so siiiick, help me.

[Nudging his leg with her heel.]

[ DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE, HARLEY. But can't read his p-p-poker face. ]

Okay, first of all you'd have to catch me first which you can't even do when you're feeling well, and second of all goddamn. Gotta watch out for Jade Harley when she's sick, takes no prisoners.

I meant accidentally. Since you're, you know, hanging out on here, sitting on this germ-infused couch..

[She flops her head back, propping her feet comfortably in his lap.]

Hey, Dave?

Yeah, well don't cough on me and we probably won't have to worry about it.

[ Probably, Dave? He makes a token sound of annoyance that he doesn't really mean, but shifts a little to let her sit comfortably. ]

Sup?

[Yep. Nice and comfortable.]

Do you any soup?

[ ...Uh. They might have some cans in a closet somewhere without any promises on if it's expired or not, and even if they do the microwave's obviously occupied and it's kind of freaky to try to use the kitchen with goddamn smuppets and weapons flying at you. He'd maybe be willing to try it anyway if he were really craving some soup, but he's not sure he wants to subject Jade to the result of that. ]

Could pick up some, I guess. You hungry?

Kind of. It doesn't have to be soup.

[She sits up with a little frown, rubbing the back of her neck and tossing the blanket at him as she does. Jade apparently has no qualms about braving Dave's kitchen... that, or she's simply never seen it.]

Can I look through your refrigerator?

[ He catches the blanket and...throws it back in her face as he stands. ]

Nope sorry, shit in the fridge is not appropriate for expectant mothers, the elderly, kids under thirteen, and especially not for Jade Harleys.

[She wrinkles her nose at him, clearly displeased by that answer as she nabs the blanket back and presses it into her lap.]

I don't want you to have to go get me food.

[ Deadpan: ]

Too late for that. Once you've set a dude on a quest, he's got to go through with it - just ask Lalonde, she knows all about. Can't back out now, Jade, it'd ruin my cred. Can't be a Knight of Time or what-fucking-ever without journeying and shit once in a while.

[She considers this for a moment, ultimately deciding that she's too exhausted to argue, before slumping back against the couch and pulling the blanket around her shoulders again.]

Okay. But hurry? And get something delicious. And something hot, I'm freezing.
